  • Heads of Product® is a simulation where each player takes on the role of Head of Product in a rival company competing for subscribers in the same market.

    Heads of Product focus and lead their teams to acquire, convert, and retain subscribers.

    Subscribers hopefully generate profit.


    Players hire and upgrade their teams, keep the CEO and investors happy, and react to market shifts and competitor moves - just like real product leaders would do.

    The game mirrors product leadership, forcing trade-offs, dealing with workplace challenges, and teaching players to think fast - be both agile and strategic.

  • Team up to grow a single product. Together.

    In HOP-CO-OP, four players collaborate to scale one product. One player takes on the role of Head of Product (HOP), while the other three act as Product Managers, each owning a part of the product funnel: Acquisition, Conversion, and Retention.

    • The HOP understands what the CEO and investors expect, sets company-wide goals, controls the budget, and upgrades teams.

    • Product Managers drive growth in their funnel area, manage cross-functional dependencies, and make the case to the HOP for the resources they need.

  • HOP-CO-OP is a powerful way for product teams to simulate their collaboration, explore how they work together, and discover more efficient ways to create impact.

    1. Kick off – 30 min - Meet the group and introduce the game

    We start with the core Heads of Product® game to establish shared understanding and alignment. From there, we tailor subsequent sessions based on your team’s needs -introducing new gameplay elements and extensions that explore topics like:

  • No. The game provides a sped-up product experience.

    Even non-tech participants will recognise familiar concepts, and those in tech will gain useful new insights.

  • Absolutely! Might even be more fun.

    There is also HOP-CO-OP vay of playing that may be interesting for your team.

    But quite possibly by the end of 2026.

  • The real value isn’t just in playing. it’s in the guided reflection afterward.

    The workshop helps teams connect their game experience to their own work challenges in a conversation led by an experienced facilitator (that’s me).

  • It’s most beneficial for companies that are organised around their own product.

    That said, it is also helpful to companies considering a shift to a product-first organisation by showing what that actually means.

  • Online version of HOP is in the making. I expect it to be available by Q3 of 2025.

    However if there is a lot of interest I may speed that up. Let me know if that would be something for you.

    The game may not mirror your exact business model, but it teaches how a funnel works - something every company has, whether they realise it or not.

  • Yes but it won’t be cheap, and we’d need to discuss licensing rights.

    I can also create a completely different game. For example to onboard new team members to your specific product.

I am the inventor of Heads of Product® and a product consultant with a decade in the product field. I help leaders and their teams build a culture of innovation, playfulness, and human-centricity for market-leading products.

In many companies, teams adjacent to product struggle to understand product decisions. They feel disconnected, undervalued, or frustrated when their work goes unused.

When organisations understand product thinking, they move faster and collaborate better on building things that matter.

I developed HOP® because I was looking for a fun way to align teams with what product does.
